David Bailey

Bailey (1938) is an English photographer. He was named number 13 on the top 100 photographers of all time.He worked for Vogue Magazine and captured fashion shoots and celebrities, he was also know as the photographer of the Swinging 60s. His work took him around the world but he always came back to London  “I tried New York, Paris, LA, even put my toes in Tokyo, but there’s no place like London, it’s the greatest city on Earth.”

I love Baileys work. You instantly get a feel of who the person is when you look at his photos. He captures the identity and character of his subjects so well, and he uses the wall known features of his subjects to his advantage like Will Smiths ears. I also like the use of lighting he uses, like Penn's its quite simple but still effective.
